clarence dillonAmong our most loyal supporters is a group of thoughtful visionaries who have remembered NMCRS in their wills and trusts, or have set up a planned gift. These individuals are members of the Clarence Dillon Society.

The Clarence Dillon Society honors Clarence Dillon, a successful New York financier who was tasked by Vice Admiral Adolphus Andrews, US Navy Commander of the Eastern Sea Frontier, with raising $5 million to meet the increased needs of the members of the US Naval Service at the time the United States entered World War II.

Under Mr. Dillon’s leadership, a public campaign was undertaken, and in less than two years, $10 million was raised, far surpassing the initial goal.  His legacy was to financially position NMCRS to meet the immediate needs of the Sea Service members serving during the World War, and to establish an important reserve fund to meet the needs of our Sailors and Marines in future generations.

While legacy gifts to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society do not fund the reserve fund, they do provide critical support to ensure the Society is well-positioned to meet the current and emergent needs of Sea Service members and their families.

Member of the Clarence Dillon Society have notified us of their plans to include the Society with a future gift from their estate. If you have made such plans, please tell us about your gift and we would be honored to include you in our roster of Clarence Dillon Society members.

Upon notification of your intent , a member of the Development team will provide you with a Clarence Dillon Society Welcome Packet.  Only name(s), not the details or amount of your estate intention, appear in our member listings. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we are happy to accommodate your request.
